Hard glossy top surface, wood composite core, and natural cork bottom.
The top of each coaster is thin coating that accept the image. The image is baked into this coating. This creates a permanent image that is resistant to scratching and heat. The top surface is also impervious to water.
The center section of the coaster is a dense wood composite that is also impervious to water. The density gives the coaster a good weight and sturdiness.
The bottom of each coaster is natural cork. The cork stops the coaster from sliding on a table and protects the table from scratches as well. Since cork is a natural wood product, it can partially absorb water but will not be damaged by getting wet.
Our print process actually bakes the image into the coaster at at over 400 degrees combined with extreme pressure. This produces a coaster that is heat resistant and durable.
As popularly seen at art festivals through out greater Boston, these aren't your typical coasters. Featuring funky images by local artists and individually pressed by hand, they're far from mass produced.
